Anderson, the eighty-second Kentucky county, was formed in 1827 from parts of Franklin, Mercer, and Washington Counties. It is named for Richard Clough Anderson. Lawrenceburg is the county seat. The Anderson County Clerk, whose duties are numerous and diverse, records and maintains various legal instruments and Fiscal Court records.
